This October an amazing group of friends based in Singapore competed in the CrossFit Hopper Warrior competition in Kuala Lumpur, while raising funds to support TGF’s work! Many thanks to Pavel Bronnikov, Sarah McHie, Laurent Bouillet, Vera Cardoso and Alberto Fernandez (who broke his arm while training – get well soon!) for raising over $1,800S. This will go directly towards TGF’s life-changing programming in rural Cambodia.

Here’s what team captain, Alberto, had to say about the effort:

“For those of you not so familiar with it, CrossFit is all about community, not personal bests. It’s a sport where the workout is not finished until the last person in the class finishes, and where the slowest athlete is always the one who get the biggest cheer from the rest.

Since we have been so blessed here in Singapore to be part of this crazy bunch of people, the five of us decided to enroll in an international competition – the coveted Hopper Warrior in Malaysia. It was only logical to make the challenge a little more spicy by adding the pressure of competing for a worthy cause.

Our team name, Urban Dream, does not only refer to our local club Urban Edge, but to the dream of being able to honor TGF’s work in Cambodia.

Immediately, all the focus was not on winning, but on how to raise awareness for TGF’s good work – how could we transform our sweat and aches into funds. It’s funny how people can be so different and still share the passion to help others, similar to what TGF does everyday”.
