No pain no gain. That could be a good definition of CrossFit or fundraising. That is why Alberto Fernández Lopez and Cynthia Eliza decided to combine both activities in order to help Temple Garden Foundation in their efforts to support rural communities in Cambodia; by entering the Island Battle Ground CrossFit competition held in Phuket, Thailand last February.
For those of you not so familiar with CrossFit competitions; well, lets say they are fun to watch from the outside but you regret joining, literally seconds after the event starts.
Cynthia and Alberto survived 8 gruesome team events over the course of 2 days, including uphill mountain running, weightlifting ladders, gymnastics sprints and other similar mad challenges, each one of them designed to prove that you’re not as fit as you think you are.
“We managed to finish, keeping our friendship intact and our souls crushed by the judges. And looking on the bright side (after a week of intense recovery) we did finish in the Top 10 and we also managed to raise $1,800 from sponsorships of friends and colleagues for various organizations including TGF.” – Alberto Fernández Lopez
