Our yearly Integrated Farmer Field School (IFFS) program remains a cornerstone of our commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and community empowerment. This initiative aims to equip farmers with the skills and knowledge necessary to enhance productivity and generate sustainable income.
Comprehensive Farmer Training in 2025:
This year, the IFFS program welcomed 108 dedicated farmers (107 of whom are females) into 16 detailed sessions across 12 villages in 2 communes. These sessions included both basic and advanced techniques across various topics, including poultry, fishery, vegetable, and mushroom farming, explored through experimental exercises and group discussions to empower farmers in making informed decisions about their crops and livestock.
Farmers received expert instruction on key topics such as building chicken houses from local materials, creating natural feed using affordable resources like banana and rice bran, and adopting sustainable disease management and vaccination strategies. Participants were provided with essential materials such as chicken nets, feeders, and an initial flock of chickens and roosters to kickstart their ventures.
External trainers from the Department of Agriculture facilitated critical training sessions on vaccination and disease management, covering common poultry diseases.
Besides poultry farming, the program equipped farmers with materials for vegetable production, including seeds and drip irrigation systems. Training sessions covered vital topics like fast composting techniques, seedling preparation, and natural pesticide creation.
The hands-on, community-based learning model strengthens local capacity and fosters resilience among farmers, empowering them to contribute actively to their families’ well-being and their communities’ development.
We are proud of the strides made by the IFFS program and remain committed to supporting local farmers in their journey towards sustainable agricultural excellence.
