Supplementary Classes: Continuous Success

In the first half of 2025, TGF continued its commitment to supporting young students through our yearly supplementary classes, specifically targeting grades 1 to 3. This essential program assists 259 students across eight primary schools in 2025, addressing their individual learning needs with precision and care.

Our supplementary classes offer a personalized and flexible approach. With small class sizes ranging from 7 to 12 students, we ensure that each child receives the attention they need to thrive. Classes are strategically held during free periods, accommodating the schedules of both teachers and students. Furthermore, we implement targeted grouping – aligning students by academic needs, grade level, and personality – to foster an optimal learning environment.

The success of this program is a testament to the collaborative spirit of all involved. Our dedicated teachers have admirably extended their work hours to provide additional support, demonstrating their unwavering commitment. Parents have also played a crucial role by actively participating and forming classroom committees, thereby strengthening support for their children’s education.

The impact of these supplementary classes is clear. A post-test conducted in July revealed promising progress: 160 students (62%) are now on par with their peers, showcasing significant improvement. However, 93 students (36%) still require further assistance to catch up, and unfortunately, six students (2%) had to drop out due to family relocations. The average test scores also highlight the program’s effectiveness, with all participating students improving from an initial average of 28% to 54%, and those who are back on track achieving an average score of 62%.

TGF continues discussions with teachers and directors to develop strategies that support the remaining students, aiming to maximize the number of kids who are back on track by the end of the school year. Our combined efforts have resulted in over 3,000 extra teaching hours year-to-date across the eight schools, showcasing the transformative power of supplementary classes.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all teachers, directors, parents, and donors whose contributions make this endeavor possible.
