UWCSEA Grade 5 Service Trip Visits Temple Garden Foundation in Cambodia

From 25–29 March 2026, TGF had the pleasure of welcoming 15 Grade 5 students from United World College South East Asia (UWCSEA) Dover Campus in Singapore, together with parents and teachers, for a special Service Trip to Cambodia.

For many years, UWCSEA Grade 5 students have supported TGF through fundraising activities to help communities in Chi Kraeng District. This year marked the first opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to visit Cambodia in person and experience firsthand how their efforts support children, schools, families, and communities.

The visit began at the TGF head office in Siem Reap, where participants met the TGF team and learned more about our four core program areas: Children’s Education, Health, Water & Sanitation, and Income Generation.

The group then spent two days at Tapor Primary School in Chi Kraeng District. Each day, 15 Cambodian students joined as exchange students, creating opportunities for friendship, cultural exchange, and shared learning experiences.

Activities focused on three main areas:

  • Establishing a school garden to support nutrition education and provide food for students
  • Sports and games activities, where Cambodian and Singaporean students learned from each other and had fun together
  • Reading, arts, and creative activities inside the renovated school library

Despite language differences, students quickly connected through games, crafts, books, teamwork, and laughter. One highlight was the collaborative artwork project and taking photos together, which were later framed and shared with the Tapor students as a memory of the visit.

Alongside the school activities, the group also visited wider TGF community projects, including one of TGF’s biodigester beneficiaries and a piped water system currently providing improved water access to more than 300 people. These visits helped students and parents better understand how community development programs can improve daily life, health, and environmental sustainability in rural Cambodia.

The visit created meaningful learning opportunities not only for the visiting students, but also for the Cambodian students and communities involved. Reflections shared afterward by the UWCSEA students showed how strongly the experience impacted them and helped deepen their understanding of global inequality, education access, environmental sustainability, and community support.

TGF would like to sincerely thank the students, parents, teachers, and the wider UWCSEA community for their continued partnership, fundraising efforts, and commitment to supporting Cambodian communities. We are grateful for the friendships created during the visit and look forward to continued collaboration in the future.
